A Weight Gain Milestone!

Posted on September 17, 2012 at 9:00 PM

On Saturday we went to the dietitian for Bella's regular check-up and were very happy to find out that we have passed another weight milestone!

For the first time in Bella’s life her weight on the percentile chart is higher percentage than her height! We’ve decided to cut her night tube feed to 800ml so that we can balance it up a bit. She still has one 200ml tube feed at school during the day and enjoys the one-on-one time with her teacher aide. Overall she's growing well with the tube feeding, has lots of energy and is looking fabulous!

Hi Fiona,
Thanks for your comment. Honestly the tube has been the best thing for us but it does mean she has become quite tube dependent so we have a long long road ahead of us. I really must update this blog with her latest news which is that she's started SOS feeding therapy (hasn't added any additional foods yet but it's the first step on the road to it). You should join our faceboook group too -\groups\ausee All the best, Sarah

Hi There I cant believe it!! Its like i have found Bella's twin!! Ronin is my son he is 8 years old and has had EE all his life!! We are at the point now he is on a count down to the tube feeding. We have 3 months on double steroids, double omeprozle, and singular, and if it doesnt work we are going to have to put him on tube feeds. I watched your video and thought that is us, it is exactly what we go through. We have had emergency operations to get food out of his eosphogus. Its terrible! I feel and know exactly what you go through, it is heart breaking. Ronin knows what he might have to go through, but he also knows how unwell he is.He never complains and if you ask him how he is he says he is fine. Anyway I just wanted to share with you. Good luck and Im glad Bella is doing better! Fiona
